The 35th Annual Georgetown Wooden Boat Show is set to sail into town on October 19-20, 2024, offering a weekend filled with maritime history, craftsmanship, and family-friendly fun. Held along the historic waterfront of Georgetown, South Carolina, this highly anticipated event is one of the Southeast’s premier boat shows, drawing thousands of visitors to celebrate the rich boatbuilding traditions of the region.

At the heart of the festival is the impressive display of wooden boats, both old and new, with over 140 classic and hand-crafted vessels lining the docks. From sleek sailboats to charming dinghies, each boat tells its own unique story of craftsmanship and design. Boat enthusiasts will have the chance to admire and interact with the owners and builders, learning about the intricate processes that go into creating these floating works of art.

One of the event’s signature highlights is the boatbuilding competition, where teams race against the clock to construct a wooden boat in just four hours. The real excitement comes on Sunday during the “By Land or By Sea” challenge, where the freshly built boats are put to the test in the water, often with hilarious and surprising results!

Beyond the boats, the Georgetown Wooden Boat Show offers live music, delicious food, and a vibrant marketplace with vendors selling nautical-themed crafts, local artwork, and more. Families will enjoy the dedicated kids’ zone, complete with face painting, boat-building activities, and games to keep the little ones entertained.
